Empress Goddess of Love Abundance and Earth

Empress Goddess of Love Abundance and Earth

Mommy, Daddy, and Baby Makes 3.  Here we have the energy of the Magician (1) and the High Priestess (2) combined in a very fertile Empress Goddess of Love, Abundance, and Earth.  Both the Robin Wood and the Rider Waite decks depict a very pregnant Empress with the symbol of Venus displayed on the cards.

In the Golden Dawn, Venus is also assigned to The Empress. We also find her in The Bible, Revelations 12:1-2 “1And there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars:
And she being with child cried, travailing in birth, and pained to be delivered.”
The twelve stars is very apparent in the Rider Waite version; while the Robin Wood card shows stars and the phases of the moon.

In astrology, Venus rules both the second house, Taurus, the house of what we value such as our money; and the seventh house Libra, the house of relationships and partnerships.

Symbology of the Empress

Our Empress represents all things of abundance, whether it is love, nurturing, or money. She represents the appreciation of the finer things in life such as art, and yes, even money.  But she also represents seduction and beauty.

Here is where The Fool finds the unconditional and nurturing love of a mother.

In readings, the placement in which she appears, the Empress can show love, success, and abundance.  It can also appear in a woman’s reading showing the possibility of a pregnancy!  And because she is ruled by Venus, it can show a loving relationship with a woman such as a wife or mother.  In questions of love, she can show a happy relationship with either a current partner, or a partner that will appear in your life. In a business reading, our Empress can show success and abundance.

Now how long will our Fool linger with the love and nurturing of his mother?
